| We just got back from our Tahoe trip with friends. We had a great time of relaxing, boating, eating, and watching lots of Olympics!
Thankful..... * that our camry is back home safe and sound. * that trips to and fro Tahoe were safe and sound. * hanging out with everyone * watching friends jump into the cold water and doing synchronized swim moves * the yummy dessert bar at Harrah's buffet * watching baby Lily wake up from her nap * long car rides and hearing good stories * people eating ice cream so we wouldn't waste food as we were leaving * watching the amazing 41 year old Torres swim (how inspiring is that) * for good friends and good great company :)

| This morning my dad called me to ask if I wanted to have lunch with my mom. My dad is so cute. He is coming down to the South Bay next week and asked if I were free. I was thinking maybe both he and my mom would want to have lunch with me, but he's too busy hanging out with his own friends (he's VERY SAD to be retiring in 3 days). So, instead, he arranges a "date" for me and my mom, sharing his insight that he thinks its important to have some separate mother-daughter time. He said he'll drop my mom off and then pick her up after he's done with lunch.
BTW, in case you were wondering, my mom and I have a very good and relationship :) But I do look forward to hanging out with her. I think we'll work on our wii fit hula hooping :)

| The theme of this year’s Nike Marathon is RUN TOGETHER. Seriously, finishing this race would not have been possible without my supporters - the people who I trained with, the people who cheered me on during the race, the person who ran the last 10 miles with me, and the people who celebrated afterwards!
Here’s a recap of the race!
Saturday - Alvin and I at the Expo getting my running bib :: Runners trying to find themselves on the Nike Wall on the Niketown window:: Luckily my name was on the bottom half so i could point to it!
Before the Race! My faithful New Balances and my timing chip :: See my Running BiB!

The Race: Loving my Gatorade :: Alvin got a picture of me at mile 16:: Cara came to cheer me on at mile 18 and 25!

I"M DONE!!! Celebrating with Friends :: Alvin did great, running the last 10 miles with me! :: Me in pain on my right leg :: Even my dad came out to take a pic with me. (he has gotten a lot "huggier" since the wedding. sorta weird, but kinda cute!)
Oh yeah- my time! I finished in 4:37. I was 7 minutes over my goal time, but it's okay, i'm still happy that i finished! I was able to run longer than I ever have (i made it to 20 miles without stopping), run more hills than i ever had (the new Orleans marathon was flat), and to better my time (did 4:51 last time.)
The race was an awesome one and the weather was gorgeous! The first half of the race was a killer as well as the last 6 miles. I tried so hard to not stop the last 6 miles, but i just couldn't do it. I usually love running Lake Merced it doesnt seem hilly, but man, when you're running into your fourth hour, its SO HARD!
I first got the idea to run this race last year when Alvin and I went to watch the runners finish the race. It reminded me of how emotional a race like this is and I thought it was the coolest thing to be part of a women's marathon. So, a year later, I'm so excited to have been part of it. Props to all the women and men who not only finished the race AND raised over $5000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
But it's finished. No more marathon trainings and back to sleeping in on Saturdays! | | |
| In about 30 hours I'll be out along the Embarcadero getting to run the Nike marathon. I'm really excited about the race.. It's been a crazy time of training for this race. I started training in July, running every Saturday morning with the Nike ClubRun SF. (Didn't hurt that we have collected a lot of free stuff, including our favorite freebies - Dri Fit Socks and Jamba Juice and Bear Naked Granola!)
I'm really thankful to God for helping me to train up to 22 miles and am really thankful for and an awesome hubby who was willing to drive up to SF with me on Friday nights and wake up at 6:45 am on Saturday to drive me to the Marina so i could train in the city for the past month. I really needed to run in SF because of their water aid stations. ( I hate running and carrying a water bottle). We've been living in SF almost every weekend since the wedding.
So here we go.... 26.2 miles that i thought i would never run again. Hope I can finish!
Come and visit at the Finisher's Line this Sunday! It will be awesome!
I NEVER thought i would be running this much, but it has really been quite addicting. I think I just love competing against myself and trying to run longer and faster.
Some cool things I've discovered since I started running in San Jose
- Rancho San Antonio! - Map My Run (you can search "Prospect Run" in my zip code for a run I created) - Two Saturdays i just got up and ran to DeAnza College and Alvin picked me up and we went to our new first-Saturday-of-the-month tradition - the ginormous De Anza Flea Market. My co-worker has a spot there so it's cool to see him and his wife there.
PS. I have more than collected enough free items to earn my registration fee back :)
